It is David Choy’s team from Mcgrath Castle Hill. We wish you or your husband a wonderful Father’s day today with your family & kids.
If you have not become a dad, then we wish you a great day with your father as well.
We hope there are lots of beautiful memories happening in your home today.
Here David would like to share one of his stories about one of the most valuable lessons he has learnt in his career that makes him become a better dad for his kids.
If you can read this email from beginning to end, then I guarantee the lesson he has learnt during his real estate career is a great lesson you can teach your kids on fathers’ day.
If you are not a dad, then you can tell your husband or your father about what I have shared in this email.
Here is David Choy’s Story where he shares one of the biggest lessons he has learnt that helps him become Castle Hill’s Number 1 agent:
I was a new Real Estate Agent in Castle Hill trying to become the best agent in a very tough market. I really wanted to be Ray White’s Top Agent to receive the award in Ray White Awards Night so I wouldn’t have to break the promise where I told my wife to have a family with her.
I wanted to be able to buy my first home so that I could buy a house to start a family.
The thing is I could not find enough home sellers and get the buyers to purchase their property. At that time, there were too many agents in the local area and not enough home sellers. In addition, it was very hard for buyers to get finance and the banks were charging the home buyers high-interest rates as well. That meant I wasn’t able to buy my first home and start a family with my wife.
To make things worse, I felt terrible because I had to work even harder and longer hours. My dream of starting a family with my wife seems like it would never come true. I felt even worse about the situation because I was sick of not feeling confident as a man for my beautiful wife. I had nothing for her at that time except for having lots of bills to pay.
The problem was that my working environment was too aggressive and too competitive, so I had almost lost my job due to my low performance which meant suddenly my only source of income was almost lost, and I would not be able to pay my home mortgage and feed my wife and kids any more.
Then, as if by chance, something amazing happened…
That’s when I started attending real estate business training and seminars to master the skills of negotiation, all about associating with leading agents and asking how top agents help vendors match the right buyers for the best price!
It was now crystal clear to me how to get the right people in my team to help me take over the admin and marketing work, so I could spend more time on helping vendors match the right buyers. I saw more vendors refer their family & friends to me because I have a team to provide high-quality customer service support for the vendors.
I also learned that it was not true that I had to do everything by myself including open for inspection, call every single buyer, send vendors market appraisals etc, you need to stop doing everything by yourself and start with a professional team to support you instead.
As a result, I had team members to help me take over most of admin and marketing work.
After I did that, I started getting more happy vendors and buyers to refer their family & friends to me.
Suddenly, I was able to take off the pressure of paying off my home mortgage, put my kids in private schools and take a holiday with my family.
That’s when I realized that the secret to becoming the best agent in a very tough market was to attend more real estate training and learn from top real estate agents in this country.
My initial plan was to start sharing my story with the people who are thinking about selling their home, so they understand how important it is to have a professional real estate team to support them.
So I started talking to home sellers about my story to help them understand why it is important for them to work with a professional real estate agent who has a good team. But we didn’t stop there.
We then started sharing my story with everyone who owns a house, apartment, townhouse and duplex as well.
After that, we found out homeowners became more educated and understood the reason why they need to have a professional real estate agent and a team like us to support them.
But there was still a problem…
I have found out sharing my stories with homeowners via mouth is not the most efficient way to educate them. As we need to talk a lot about how to get the right buyers to purchase the property from them in our meeting, so I had to find a better way to educate them
We ended up getting so frustrated that we decided to look for some digital marketing tools to send my message out like Email, SMS and social media post etc.
We chose to call it “David Choy’s Story Time”.
We thought if we could create something that would make it possible to get my story to reach to homeowners regularly, we’d be really happy.
After many weeks of meeting with my marketing team, we created “David Choy’s Story Time”
I can now share my story with most of the homeowners regularly.
As a result of all this, we were able to achieve the following:
Create engaging stories to educate homeowners about how to increase the value of their properties when it will be the best time to sell and where they can move to after they have sold their home etc
After creating “David Choy’s Story Time”, I was not only able to add some value to my past buyers’ life, I’ve also been able to stop feeling frustrated to not be able to share my advice with homeowners, because we can now reach a lot of people via email, SMS and social media.
And in the end, all of this means I’m now able to help homeowners become more educated and make a difference in their life.
Here is one of most valuable lessons I have learnt from this journey: “schools tells us it is plagiarism if we ask other for answers during exam. However, in real life, it is the smartest thing we can do when we have problems”
